Blender and Mixamo: Repeating Animations Like Walk Cycles in Two Steps!

Repeatable Animations from Mixamo - Zombie Walk

TL;DR:

Importing animations, especially for characters can get tricky but it’s getting easier. I’ve seen a lot of tutorials about Blender and Mixamo but this is the best so far imo. In two steps you can import any Mixamo animation and extend it to loop properly. Just follow this tutorial by Balu Prime!

This was the easiest, pain free way to import Mixamo animations into Blender.

Mixamo repeat cycle animations work without any hassle.

  1. Just import the Mixamo animation then select the armature.
  2. Open the Dope Sheet then Shift-E > Make Cyclic
  3. Open the Graph Editor select the main Armature up top.
  4. On the right, select the “Modifiers” side tab.
  5. Select “Repeat with Offset” for the “After Mode” setting.

This works ONLY if you exported the Mixamo without selecting “In Place”. If you select “In Place” you’ll have to create the first walk cycle loop with the proper distance controlled at the hip armature. Once you do that you should be able to follow the steps above!

Shout out to Balu Prime for explaining it so clearly!
